The Global Universities Alliance for Cultural Rights is an international, unincorporated, non-profit, membership-based network of universities and university research centres anchored in a shared commitment to cultural rights as essential to human dignity, social cohesion, peacebuilding and sustainable development.

Global Framework & Principles

The Global Universities Alliance for Cultural Rights is grounded in international human rights law and in a long-standing body of cultural and heritage norms. At the heart of our framework lies the recognition, expressed in Article 27 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights: “Everyone has the right freely to participate in the cultural life of the community, to enjoy the arts and to share in scientific advancement and its benefits.
